Resolutions, blah, blah, blahhhhhhh

Happy New Year!!!

 New year, new you.   Yeah, yeah, yeah.  It's the 3rd 4th of January now, how many  resolutions have you broken already?  I totally decided to make NO resolutions, and I still haven't chosen my word for this year's one little word.  I figure after doing Live for like what 2 years in a row, maybe my word for the year will come to me.  Maybe in, say Mid November? 
Ohhhhh I know.  Snark, my word can be snark.  Oh wait, it is suppose to be something you change.  Wellllllll, crap.  Off to think of a new word.  Anyway, back to new years.  
I just actually finished up doing a month of stamp carving for #CarveDecember over on Instagram and had a fun time being creative and forcing myself to making something, and I think I am going to carry that onward onto this year.  Last year, I put up an album in my Facebook world, and I think it should be my mantra for this next year.  2015, the year of crafting dangerously!!  I want to get outside of my comfort zone and try making things, and using my artsy side and create.  I don't want to go all hoarder though so I am hoping to get to share what I am making and creating with others who will enjoy and appreciate it.  So its not just about creating, but giving as well.  I also want to try to blog more.  I have been tossing between a written blog and a video one.  I kinda have figured if someone is actually reading or watching what I do, then I would be motivated to post more actively.  But its Jan. and it is kind of a wait and see how my time and motivation go.

So the princess has a 4H meeting tonight and the subject of tonight's meeting is Karate.  I figured what the heck, I would do snacks this month and of course as much as I try not to be one of those kind of moms, I sometimes end up being what I try not to be.  Of course my crafty side tends to take over, and suddenly I must go with a themed snack.  I figured since its July, I would try to do a cute cake pop I saw on instagram featured on Michael's.  after a little search I found the blog they came from originally at pint sized baker. simple enough right???  Wrong..... everything worked fine until I went to melt my white chocolate.  I think it was some weird stuff I have left over from Okinawa, and it just didn't work right.  It is definately a pinterest fail......  and no I didn't take any pictures of it.  It was nightmarish. Family Fun at Home Depot

So we decided to get out and explore since we saw something, both free, and creative after all this snow and mess we have had on and off since January.  The princess is a budding crafter/artist and of course I wanted to let her explore it even more.   Home depot has these free kid workshop sign ups and I decided to let her test out one this past Saturday to make a Trojan horse bank.   They were offering this kit to go along with the release of Mr. Peabody and Sherman movie and how they explore history.  I love piggy banks, and I was excited to see just exactly what it looked like.  I signed up online, and when Saturday was here, we were up early and heading out. This one went from 9 am until 12 noon, and we were there about 8:45 am.  We went in and asked the front desk about where it was going to be held and off we went.  Our local store was having the workshop in the garden center.  BIG MISTAKE!!!  Since I had time, of course I...

valentine's day totes

The crafting bug has hit full force and I am making things like crazy, and I decided to blog about some of my crafts.  Since valentine's day was coming up I wanted to make the princess' teacher a tote.  I had already gotten goodies together to give to the kids and just figured I would do something kind of cute for the teacher, and one of the women from our church that works at the school too. I had started a long list of things all related to valentine's day on my pinterest page, and this page had caught my eye.    of course, it was the nut heart necklace that drew me in, but after looking at the tote, I really liked it and had made one for the princess' K. teacher, and I just wanted to give it a go again.  I figured I would write up what steps I did, and maybe do a review of the products I used too and of course anything I would do different, or tweaks I did in their original directions.
