A huge dis-service

I am at a loss right now, and maybe this blog is the best way for me to maybe get my thoughts in some kind of sane line of it all. Almost a type of at least get it off my chest my thoughts. My husband was active duty for 14 and half years until he couldn't re-enlist to try to finish out his career in the army. Cut backs with the troops and the like made things harder for people to stay in, but that isn't the point. He spent that time in, learning how to fight, how to go to war, and how to do army type things, but never in those years in did they do things to prepare him for the life on the other side of the military, or how to adapt to civilian life. Yes, they had acap classes, but an hour or two, and nothing actually to help him understand how the outside world works, or getting skills to find jobs, or how to interact in the civilian world. They prepared him to go to war, but not how to live.

He has been out of the army since the very end of October of 2015, but he still doesn't understand, and in my opinion, is he has not adjusted to life on the other side of the uniform. He was enlisted, and in a MOS (military job) that dealt with logisitics, but yet he has struggled to find a job in that field. So to pay the bills, he has worked part time at a large home improvement chain, and full time as a stocker at one place, then moved onto a warehouse job to move from third shift to first. Because of being a temp, he was there for 6 months, and now he is not working again, other than at the part time.
He doesn't fully understand how to write a resume, how to dress for an interview, or how to interact with others to keep a job.  He doesn't understand that everytime he leaves a job effects getting any future jobs, or how the world works.  He doesn't understand the concept of building a retirement, or even what he actually wants to work at now that he isn't in the army and is sent from station to station filling the needs of the army, being told what to do, and how to do it, and which job he will be doing on what day.

There was so many times he looked forward to being out of the army so he wouldn't deploy or be gone so much, but now he is looking into a job that will have him gone just as much if not more than he was gone in the army.  They did not prepare him for finding a career, over a job, or even how to get a job and stay in it.  It was like, ok your time is up, here lets throw you to the wolves, and who cares what happens.  There needs to be an aftercare for military members, especally after their seperation from the service.  It doesn't matter if they retire, or if their time of the current enlistment is up, their needs to be some kind of aftercare for both the soldier and their family to adjust to the life after the uniform is off.

I am at a loss on what to think of it all and I don't want this post to be a muddled mess.  There are more things that I think they do the members of the military that are just a dis-service to their time in but I will post them later on.
